Chan Strategy
Chan rewards players who combine careful hand construction with strong timing and memory. Key strategic principles:
- Card Counting & Memory
- Track which high-value pairs (Chắn) and Cạ have been played. Remembering discards helps you anticipate opponents' needs.
- Early vs. Late Game
- Early game: prioritize flexible combinations and avoid committing to risky reveals. Keep cards that can form multiple Chắn/Cạ.
- Late game: narrow your hand toward a winning Cước; be aggressive in taking discards that complete high-value Chắn.
- Defensive Play
- Avoid discarding cards that give opponents easy Chắn. If an opponent has eaten several discards of a suit, avoid discarding that suit.
- Building for Cước
- Aim for recognized bonus patterns (Tôm, Lèo, Thiên Địa variants) when feasible—these yield higher scoring but are risky.
- Communication & Reading
- Observe opponents’ eating patterns and hesitations. Players who frequently eat discards likely seek small Cạ combinations; those that refuse discards may be building for big Cước.
Practice scenario drills and replay hands to internalize these strategies. Over time, strong memory and pattern recognition will make the difference between good and great Chan players.
