Lieng Strategy - Psychological Warfare 🎭
1. Hand Valuation
Knowing when to fold and when to fight is 80% of the game.
- Sap (Three of a Kind): The nuts. Bet aggressive to build the pot, or slow play to trap.
- Lieng (Straight): Very strong. Be wary if the board texture or opponent confidence suggests a higher Lieng or Sap.
- Anh (Three Face Cards): Good hand but vulnerable. Play cautiously against heavy action.
- Points (Diem): 8 or 9 points is strong. 0-1 points is usually a fold unless you plan to bluff.
2. The Art of Bluffing
- Table Image: If you've been playing tight (only betting with good hands), a bluff is more likely to succeed.
- The "Blind" Bluff: Betting dark or betting without looking at cards can intimidate passive players, but use sparingly.
3. Position & Observation
- Acting Last: As in Hold'em, acting last gives you information. If everyone checks, a bet might steal the pot regardless of your cards.
- Read Tells: Look for timing tells. Instant checks often mean weak hands. Long pauses followed by a bet often mean strength.
4. Quick Tips
- Don't play every hand. Folding is a strategy.
- Vary your bet sizing so opponents can't guess your hand strength easily.
