Xi To FAQ
1. What makes Xì Tố different from Texas Hold’em?
Xì Tố is a stud-style Vietnamese poker variant, often played with a reduced deck, where players build hands primarily from their own dealt cards rather than shared community cards. Betting rounds still include pressure, position, and bluffing, but information is revealed differently because some cards are face up as action develops. This creates a distinct rhythm compared with Hold’em. You rely more on visible upcard patterns, tighter range reading, and disciplined fold decisions against strong betting lines from experienced opponents.
2. Why do many Xì Tố tables remove low cards?
Many tables use a shortened deck, commonly keeping ranks 7 through ace, to increase action and hand collision frequency. With fewer ranks, pairs, straights, and stronger made hands appear more often, so passive play becomes less effective. This structure encourages betting confrontations and raises the value of observation skills. However, exact deck composition can vary by house. Confirm the deck before play because probability assumptions from a full 52-card environment do not transfer directly to reduced-deck Xì Tố.
