Bridge Tricks - Finessing, Squeezes & Endplays
Advanced Card Play Techniques
Beyond basic strategy, expert Bridge players employ sophisticated techniques that squeeze extra tricks from seemingly impossible positions. These are the tools that separate good players from great ones.
1. The Finesse
Basic Finesse
The finesse is an attempt to win a trick with a card that is not the highest remaining card, by taking advantage of position.
The Queen Finesse: You hold AQ5 in your hand, with 432 in dummy. Lead the 2 from dummy toward your AQ. If the player on your left plays low, insert the Queen. If the King is on your left, the Queen wins. Success rate: 50%.
